Sheep : My entry comprised 3381, out of which I sold 2688 as follows :—42 fat sheep at 5s 8d ; 103 fat wethers, 7s Id ; 50 fat ewes, 5s Id ; 43 do, ,4s 2d ;27d0 at 4s; 206 crossbred 2-tooth ewes and wethers at 4s ; 852 crossbred ewes from 2s lOd to 5s Id; 654 lambs, la lid to 2s 6d and up to 4a 5d ; 871 cull crossbred and merino ewes, from Is to 2a 10d ; 200 crossbred ewes and lambs, all counted, at 2s lOd; 41 rams from 11s to 21s. Cattle : Six fat steers at £7 ; 2 fat cows, £4l2s to £6 ; 2 do, £4 IDs; 14 stores, 38 months to 3 years, £1 7s 6d to £4 5s ; 9 yearlings at 20s ; 7 milch cows, in milk or springing, from £4 2a 6d to £ss 15s. Pigs ; lat 20s ; Sat 17s; 5 at 14s 6d;6at9s; and 3 at ss. At the Washdyke yards on the 7th im t. the entry of both sheep and cattle was large. Sheep ; I sold as follows—39 fat wethers from 6s 6d to 8a 8d ; 8 fat lambs at 7s 3d; 150 lambs at 2a 6d to 2s 8d ; and privately 314 crossbred ewes at 4s 3d. Cattle : 4 fat jteers at £6 10s ; 2 do at £5 ; stores, 3 steers at £3 10s ; 5 at £3 5b ; 2 at £2 10s ; cows in milk and springing from £2 5a to £5 10s ; yearlings and other dry cows, £1 7s 6d to £2 15s. Sheepskins—At the regular sale on W ednesday, the 6th insl., I sold as follows Factory skins, Sa Id to 3a 4d ; butchers’ crossbrads, 2s 9d to 3s 6d ; lamb skins, 3s to 3s 4d ; country skins, crossbreds, good, from 2s 6d to 4s 6d ; inferior, la 6d to 2s 3d ; merinos, Is 3d to 3s 3d ; pelts, 9d to 1s 3d. Fat, from £4 10s to £lO per ton. Horses—l quote heavy draughts from £J6 to £24; medium do, £9 to £l4 ; superior saddle and harness horses, £l2 to £22 ; inferior and weedy sorts according to quality. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, April 19. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows Wheat, 3s lid to 4s; slightly improved tendency. Barley, 4s 9d to 5s 6d ; prices barely maintained. Oats (feed sorts), 2s 9d tc 2s lOd ; much steadier; oats (milling sorts), 2s lOd to 2a lid ; steady. New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s to 2s Id, quiet. ENGLISH MAEAEIS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company (Limited) have received the following cablegram fiom London, dated 15tb April 1887 :—' Wool 'in fniif'r, progress sleadily. For scoured m-rdi- the market is slightly better, an i■ 1 i,n f jj quality crossbred, heavy in i-.:;, slightly weaker. Up to date 149,0 L baies have been sold. The sale programme h«a been curtailed by three days. Tallow —The market has a drooping tendency. Medium and inferior qualities are in demand, but fine is neglected. Good mutton and beef tallows are worth 23s 6d and 22s (id per cwt respectively.
