S.C. CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday, Piesen^—Mr John Jackson (Chairman), Dr Loregrove, and Messrs Talbot and Balfour. The Secretary, Mr Lough, was also present. The' Committee presented their proposed rules for regulating the Medical Staff for the Hospital, and after hearing Tiews of Dr Hogg, who waited on the Board, it was resolved—" That the resolution passed at the. last meeting re hospital visiting staff;. be altered to read that the members of the visiting staff be elected by seniority of practice inTirnaru, instead of by ballot;" "That the rules and regulations relating to the medical staff and resident Burgeon be adopted, as recommended by the Committee;" " That Dr Maclntyre aud lit Lovegrove be elected to form the visiting staff of the Timaru Hospital for the period ending March 31st, 1888." The Clerk} was directed to forward to the ControlleriQenerdi a copy of the Board's balance sheet for the past year. After considering a letter from the Premier's office,.it was resolved—" Th-t the Bourd will accept control of thu Immigration Depot, provided the laud on which the buildings stand be vested in the Board for charitable purposes, viz., town stations 191,192, 198, and 199." It was decided to have a place mado for storing ice, A letter wbb read from Mr Pearpoint, Chairman of the Geraldine Town Board, asking for information as' to the charges for'charitable aid supplies at Geraldine;—The Clerk was directed to forward to the police officer at Geraldine, • copy of the prices, and advise Mr Pear* point of the same having been forwarded. Accounts for hospital maintenance amounting to £3Bl 19a 7d, for hospital building contract £2so r aud for charitable •id £l3B 5s Pi, were then passed for payment. Several charitable aid applications were granted. Mr Talbot gave notice of motion to move at the next meeting the following motion: charitable aid be on a uniform system throughout the district. The meeting then terminated.
