ASHBURTON MARKETS, Mr E. G. Staveley (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports an tbe Ashburton sale, ] 2th inst. as follows Though tbe steady downpour at rain interfered somewhat with the attendance and retarded business, it did not prevent a large entry ol Stock, about 8000 sheep and a fair number of cattle being yarded. Business was quiet, and prices without alteration. Eat crossbred awes made 8s 9d, merino wethers 3s fid ; ordinary fall-mouth crossbred ewes, Is 8d to 2s (|d ; merino do, 9d to Is 3d; crossed lambs, 2s 9d to 3s 4d ; twotooth crossbred wethers, 5s 2d ; do mixed, Ss 6d. We yarded for various clients 2853 sheep. Cuttle were difficult to quit. Eat cows and heifers brought £3 5s to £5 IQs ; two-year olds, 5,25; fifteen months, 25s ; and others nominal values.
