The rivers at Hokitike on Monday were again in high flood. A little girl is missing at Hokitika. It is supposed she went to the beach for piptß and was drowned. The voting of members of the First Presbyterian Church, Duuedin, showed a large majority in favor of introducing inslrumontul music.
Mr Fisher, member for Wellington South, addressed his constituents on Tuesday night. He spoke in opposition to the Government, and received a vote of thanks and confidence.

In the Duhedin City Court yesterday, a girl of fourteen years was sentenced to 7 days' imprisonment. She is of respectable parentage, but prefers a life of immorality. At Wellington yesterday Crabtree'i sentence was again postponed. The Judge remarked that he was inclined to make the sentence heavier if the stolen property still missing was not recovered. Messrs Smith and Beaumont waited on the Premier at Auckland {yesterday to ask the Government to give a grant in aid of the Public Library Reading and Recreation Room proposed to be opened for the Freeman's Bay diatriot in the Rob Roy hotel premises. The Premier sympathised with the objeot and thought that a grant could be got from the Library yotes up to £SO, and promised to keep the matter in view. A deputation from the Radical Reform League asked the Premier, in his address on Wednesday night, to deal with the land and income tax, plural voting, protection, local industries, local solf government, defence or war expenditure, Legislative retrenchment, and reduction of the Governor's salary.. •'
