Mr Hobbs, M.H.R., telegraphs to the Auckland papers that the special settlers at Herekino are dissatisfied with the Government not fulfilling their promises. Some are in want of food, and hare rot tasted meat for a week, and many will certainly starve if immediate relief be not forthcoming. Mr Hobbs roaches for the troth of the statements, and says the position csnnot be exaggerated. Robert Usher, who was injured at Papakura (Auckland) railway station on Tuesday, died in the hospital at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, , Mr John London has called a meet, ing of gumdiggers at Papakura (Aucklank), with a view to induce the men to join the village settlement scheme. Mr J. A. The building was partially gutted a* I considerable damage done to the stock. The insurances are: —On (he building, £7OO in the Norwich Union ; Machinery and stock, £9OO in the South British, £BOO in the Liverpool and London and Globe, and £6OO in the Equitable. The cause of the fire is not known.
