Mrlbodrnb, March 9. Arrived—S.S. Manapoori. The official agricultural statistics state that theiyield of wheat for Victoria this season is( eleven and a half bushels per acre, thus confirming the newspaper estimates, ; ' March 10. A preliminary meeting of Municipal representatives was held yesterday, It was decided to organise a general illumination in honor oi the Queen’s jubilee, and to erect a'tftattta to Majesty in Melbourne. The details of the programme ’are not yet finally: settled. The cross-actions for assaults between Sutton,bookmaker,and Lord Deerhursi, one of Sir Menry Loch’s aide-de-camps, was tried to-day at the Police Court, before a large Bench of Magistrates, Mr Pan ton, R.M., presiding, The case arose from betting transactions. Sutton’s action was dismissed, and in the crossaction Sutton, who intended starting by the mail steamer to-day for Europe, was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment. The decision excited much surprise.

Sailed—Wairarapa, for Auckland, Most of the unemployed have now been provided with Government relief works. Brisbane, March 9. Heavy floods are reported in the north. A large area of country is under water, Adelaide, March 9. The Premier, speaking at Gawler last night, confirmed the announcement of the intention of the Government to introduce a Bill enabling South Australia to join the Federal Council. He stated that he believed the Premier of New South Wales would propose a similar Bill.
