The cross-actions for assaults between Sutton,bookmaker,and Lord Deerhursi, one of Sir Menry Loch’s aide-de-camps, was tried to-day at the Police Court, before a large Bench of Magistrates, Mr Pan ton, R.M., presiding, The case arose from betting transactions. Sutton’s action was dismissed, and in the crossaction Sutton, who intended starting by the mail steamer to-day for Europe, was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment. The decision excited much surprise.
