Aden, Feb. 13. News bas been received from Zanzibar that the Governor of Mozambique is formally demanding the cession to Portugal of the territory which was recognised as the Sultan’s by an agreement concluded between England- and Germany. He has requested that a reply shall be given within twenty-four hours. The Sultan has referred the matter to the European Powers, and the Portuguese representative at Zanzibar has lowered his flag, and the relations between the two Governments have been broken off. The Portuguese bombardment of the village of Tungua, which adjoins the colony of Mozambique, is threatened.

The four-ir asted ship Euphrates, bound from Greenock to this port with railway plate, has struck on a rock 20 miles eastward of Palmerston.
