ARRIVAL OF THE TAINUI.
Auckland, Feb. 16. The direct steamer Tainui, Captain Barlow, arrived at 4 a.m. from L'-ndon via Hobart. The medical office of health found one case of scarlet fever on board, that of a child aged 7 years, who has been isolated with his two sisters since the outbreak, There were two other cases during the voyage, the first of which broke out after leaving the Cape of Good Hope, but both patients recovered. The Tainui has been ordered into quarantine till instructions are received from Wellington. Hie mails are not being fumigated as it is thought the steamer may be admitted to pratique. Later. In accordance with instructions from Wellington, the Tainui’s Aockland passengers will be landed at the quarantine station at Matubi and kept there until sixteen days after the infectious disease has been eradicated. The mails will be lauded at the quarantine hulk and the Tainui, after being thoroughly fumigated, wib be allowed to go South with passengers and cargo.
