We’re the only fools that read your nasty books, any way.” In another moment the two well-matched women were face to face, and within half* an hour the novelist was urging her American caller to become her guest, “ Do come and stay a month with me," she urged ; “ 1 should so enjoy studying your character.” “ It would do you good,” was Mrs Bigelow’s quick response ; “ you don’t seem to haee known any decent women,—Figaro.”
