On Thursday, 27th ult., a onmbsr of (ha i parent and friend* of thechildrenattending i this School met in the sohoobhousa for the ( purpose of witnessing the distribution of . prizes. The prize* were obtained with thi , proceed* of the late successful oonoert, and , were a handsome collection of hooks and , other article*. , The Chairman of the Committee, Mr D. Shaw, occupied the ebair, and after a few appropriate remarks distributed tbe prizss. ' Bvtry pupil received a prize according to ( ite age and merit. The dnx boy of the t school, B. Shaw, and the saooes*rol oompeti a tor for the scholarship, J. Boae, received c extra prize*. The sewing prize* were awarded i to M. McQuillan, B. Sharpe, A. Shaw, and v H. Guerin, a* best in their respective a divisions. There was seme difficulty iu dooiding (heae a* the work don* was all really b excellent. Mr J. M. Twomey's special prize „ for map drawing waa awarded to Barbara Bell for a carefully executed map of ledia. ? Several capital songs were eung by the a children in a pleasing o.anner, and an en* o joy able evening was brought to a close by tl the children giving three hearty cheers for h the teachers. n OOKMITTIH MnRTiyS. A special meeting of the member* of the p Committee of the above school was held last ii Tuesday evening, the Bth inat., to consider si the retignation of the Head Master, Ur A. ri Penney, and other matters. There were hut y few present. s j After eomc little disenssion it was resolved n to take no steps anent the nomination of tmembers for the Board of Education, p The resignation of the (he Head Master, who also applied for an extension of the 81 holidays by lour days, to oevsr his month’s * noties, was then read, and accepted with ® very great regret at his leaving, v EfBMOTOB’S KHPOET. ? The Inspector’s report, on the late ex- : animation was laid before the Committee and , read as follows: ' . “ All the classes did well with the ezoep(ion of Standard IV., the pupils in which ■ *< did badly in dictation and arithmetic. Three of those presented in (his class had it not passed the third Standard at last ex- ft animation., The efficiency of (he school as a t< whole is very creditable to Mr Penney.
