POLITICS IN ENGLAND.
Lokdon, Jan. 30. Addressing a meeting of his con- j stituents at Birmingham last night, Mr Chamberlain dwelt at some length on affairs in Ireland. He-deprecated submission to the demands made by the Land League, and was not prepared to support coercion, though Willing to enforce the ordinary.law as far as .pos--' Bible, in order eusure security to landlords without risk to the British taxpayer. Mr Chamberlain urged that' a reunion of the Liberals' should be brought about by the cc-operation of the different sections of the party. It is reported that Mr Goschea will petition against the return of Mr Neville en the ground of personation and undue influence. A Bill will.be shortly, introduced for the purpose of legallising in England the marriage with a deceased's wife's sister contracted in the colonies. Jan. 31. Mr Goschen, who was defeated for the Exchange Division of Liverpool, h»B been invited to contest St. George's (Hanover Square) Division, Middlesex, which has been rendered vacant by the resignation of Lord Algernon Percy, who has tetired on account of iil-heultb. 1 i ! ;
