'■■ From the Property Tax Commissioner, stating that a voucher for £l5O 19s lid Lad,been forwarded ,to the Treasury as advance of 75 per cent of subsidy on rates. From the v Se,cretary. to;the Treasury, advising ■the of the payment of £l6O 19s lid to its credit with the Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, as subsidy on rates 1 . From the. Timaru Harbor BouH, notifying that an eiectipn of a member to represent the district would have 'to be held on the Clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps for holding the eiectipn. Totton, in reference to a repott in circulation ,jn the district that he had in Mr Irvine'fl absence made an oflWto cjo the work of Ojerk and,Overseer for a less salary : than that at present paid, and refuting the assertion.—tie-, solved : "That as ar.epprt had been cir-, culated in the district that Mr Totton had offered the Board to act as clerk fora.less salary than is dow,,being given .to .Mr Irvine, the Board it f«ir, to Mr Totton. to Bt«te that such report,is entirely without [foundation, no such offer, bavhig been made in any way to the Board.;" Frpm th,e Manager of the, Trußt f and Agency Company, objecting to pay rates upon property,entered in the,roll, as they are not in possession of such property.— The. Clerk was directed .to write to the,, Commissioner of. Property, Tax for further information in respect to the property referred to. Mr Flatman had an interview with the Board in reference to having the road in Peel Foreßt between sections No. 1372 and 3309 closed.—The Clerk was directed to forward the plans to the Geraldine County Council for the purpose of having the road closed. The Overseer reported that upon the contractors for the Clayton bridge extension beginning work solid rock had been 'met with a few feet below the surface of the riverbed, and that the work had been pending the decision of.the Board in the malUr.— The contractor was in attendance, "nd explained the circumstances of the ,caße.—After considerable discussion,, it was resolved that the contractor proceed with the work, driving-J the piles till they reach the solid rock, and then, erect;, the superstructure according to the specification. The application of Mr Jenkins, made last Board meeting for renting one of the gravel reserves for a term,,of years, was considered, , wbenjit was decided that the Board decline, to let any of the reserves. The Clerk was directed to write to Mr Shaw, askirg wjien the Board would be, supplied with a plan of the piece of land,. part of section No. 3208, proposed to be purchased r road purposes. Accounts to the amount of £283 5s Id were passed for payment, aod the Board adjourned.
