GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of this<Committee was heljj on Wednesday evening. Present—Messrs N. Dunlop (Chairman), J. Cunningham, W. Shiers, R. -S. Cook, C. E. Sherratt, and Geo. Ward, MINUTES. i The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read end dealt with : From'the S;O.. Hoard nf Education, forwarding ab'stiatt of a 6cli •» ('t IVnoiehr ibcouo't, and requet-ting that the same be accurately tilled up and forwarded to the Board.—Resolved : “ That the accounts and Committee’s report bo forwarded.” ; From Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs, Christchurch, notifying, tlqe Committee that Daisy Colbert Jdhtx Joe, Standard 1., had bd'en ’awarded’'a first and third prize respectively in connection w'th (he Art Drawing prize, and that the suma of £1 Is and 10s 6d bad been forwarded to be paid to them. ; From the P.C. Board of Education, notifying that the sum of £lO had been paid to the credit of the Committee, being the amount of their grant in aid of repairs. i From the same, requesting the Committee ‘|s elec-, (iori c 'tb*'the , 'B6ard “of EiubaHon in the room of Messrs Howell, Barker, and the Rev. Jasper Symthe, who retire on March £lst, but are eligible for re-election.—lt was decided that as these gentlemen were sure to be nominated in their own districts the Committee take no steps in the matter. i THE WEXiL. It was decided that Messrs Shiers, Sherratt, and, the Chairman,be appointed to inspect the school 'well, and have the necessary work rlonei ■ : v . VISITORS. ! Mr Dunlop, on behalf of the visitors, reported having visited the school during the present week, and found everything going on satisfactori)}'. Messrs Shiers, ‘.Dunlop, and Sherratt were appointed visitors for the ensuing month; \ i TH'rteen ‘ appticatiohs r ' were ‘ received by the Education Board for this position. TJie; i,Board- .classified them, tlnd requested the Committee : to recommend one ofi the candidates,/. ■ ■ - i It was resolved that Mr. James Aitken, of Ravensbourne,t-be selected* as head master of the Geraldine School. . * .Twenty-three, applications! were received * for; this[ -post., Having been classified by ithb,Board, and considered by the Committee,- it was decided to recomment the appointment of Miss M. 0. Peareoiq bf the Winchester School, for the appointment; \ ‘ ( f ACCOUNTS. ' ! ! An account for 6s was" passed for payment, and the Committee,adjourned. ' ,
