Melbourne, Jon. 10. .The Government have received a telegram from Loudon slating that the colonial confennce is expected to assemble there on tho Ist of April, or during tbe last week in March. The heat throughout Australia bus been unprecedented. Two fatal cases of sunstroke reenned in Melbourne to-day. Smallpox patients at the quarantine station are progressing favorably. It is hoped that the more serious cases will recover. Jan 11. The Mararoa sailed this afternoon for the Bluff. The smallpox patients at Sorrento and at the qnamtine station are progressing favorably, Sydney, Jan. 9. The men hanged for the Mount Rennie outrage were buried by their friends on Saturday last. Jan. 10. Arrived, yesterdiy morning—Rotomahana, from Auckland. Malone, the sprint runner, challenged Hutchins, the English pedestrian, who is now in Sydney, to run a quarter of a mile race. Intense heat has prevailed throughout the Riverina district for the last few days, and extensive bush fires are raging in the neighborhood of the township of Camivale, on the Murray. An unusual commotion of the sea has been observed at various points on the coast. The weither generally is calm, and the occurrence is regarded as betokening soma extraordinary disturbance. Three fresh eases of smallpox are reported, making in all 103 cases at the quarantine station. Jan. 11. Sir P. Jennings tendered the resignation of his ministry to the Governor to-day. He explained that the principal reason for taking this step is the insubordination displayed by Mr Dibbs to the Premi' r. Nothing will be known for two or three day* as to tho possible reconstruction of the ministry. Two more deaths from smallpox have occurred. There are no fn-sh cases reported. A girl aged seventeen recently reported to the police that < n the 251 h December, while proceeding home along Cook’s River read she was set upon by a number of men who dragged her into an omnibus shed, where she was criminally assaulted by seven of them, The police have arrested six'men on a charge of committing tbe outrage.

Adelaide, Jan. 10. One death from smallpox is reported. Another of the Preussen’s passengers is sickening. Jan. 11. Four boatmen landed yesterday at tbo quarantine station, and were at once quarantined, though they will be separated from the "Preuesbii’s passengers until the latter are released.
