DISASTROUS COLLISION AT SEA.

Sydney, Dec. 9. The steamers Helen Nicholl and Keilawarra came into collision last night off Trial Bay, on tbe coast of this colony. The Keilawarra sank in seven miuutes. Tbe captain and 35 of the crew and passengers went down in her. Three of the Helen Nioholl’s crew are missing. The Reilawarra, 1000 tons, was owned by Howard, Smi h and Co. She was bound from this port to Brisbane, and the Helen Nicholl was coming from Grafton to Sydney. The Keilawarra had 25 passengers. The Helen Nicholl is severely damaged by the collision, and put into Trial Bay. The names of tbe Keilawarra’s passengers are as follow; —A family of eight named Sohepper, Mrs Johnston and child, Misses Caldor, Gallagher, and Bulfin, Messrs Wilson, Copland, A, James, Scott, Lough, McGrade, McDonald, Nott, and eleven steerage. The names of the saved are: Messrs Preece, Barton, Lodge, Greaves, Lough, Copland, A. James, Connolly, Mahew, Corby, Suourr, Gray, Young, and Nott, besides others unknown. Later. The Keilswarra’a crew mustered 35, all told. The total loss of life amounts to 43, made up as follows —-Twenty-five passengers of the Keilawarra, and the captain and eleven of the crew, and six of the crew of the Helen Nicholl. All the mates and engineers of the Keilawarra were saved. The steamer A ustralasian is bring.ng the Helen Nicholl to Sydney.. The steamers Lawrence and Game-cock have gone to meet them. It is expected that they will arrive to-morrew morning.
