TEMUKA F. TIMAIIU. A match between Elevens representing the Temuka and Timaru Union Clubs took place at Temuka last Thursday afternoon, play commencing about ten minutes past three. Mr Bryars captained the Temuka team, and Mr Robinson the Timaru. The visitors were first to bat, and managed to put together 119 runs before they were disposed of. The home team were not so successful, but they were not all out when time was called, so the match resulted in a draw much in favor of Timaru. The local Club will have to go in for hard and steady practice at once if they want to hold their own against outside Clubs this season.. The following are the scores;— Timaru. OTAGO. . The Cricket match Australians v. Otago Twenty-two—was concluded on Wednesday afternoon, the visitors wining with six wickets to fall. The weather was fine but the attendance was poor. The batting of the Australians was much superior to their batting on the first day. The fielding of the local team was, on the whole, very poor, the bowling being the only redeeming feature. The following are the scores:—Otago : First innings 63, second 168, total 221; Australians: First innings 60, second innings (for four wickets) 162, total 222, AUSTRALIANS F. CANTERBURY. Christchurch, Nov. 26. Million won the toss and Canterbury went in, Wilding and W. Colterill facing the bowling of Evans and Bruce. Blackham kept the wickets. Wilding opened the score with one off Bruce, Garrett replaced Bruce after a quarter of an hour’s play, with the score at 16. Spofforth relieved Evans after 23 was made. The runs came freely, and with the score standing at 38 Palmer relieved Spofforth. Trumble replacing Garret, Trumble soon after bowled Wilding off his pad, with the score at 48, of which Wilding contributed 28. He played the bowling with ease without giving a chance. Crawshaw took bis place, At J. 30 the score was 68 for one wicket. Ten minutes after resuming Cotterill was cleaned bowled by Jones, 74—2—29. Wheatly joined Crawshaw.
