TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
monthly meeting of the above Committee was held last Thursday evening. Present-—Messrs Blyth (in .f the chair), Lee, Davis, end Cooper. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read -nd confirmed. i :• 'BEBSPONDENCB. Corretpuu ence was read From the Head Master showing the attendance to be as follows Number on roll: Boys, 183 ; girls, 153 ; total, 886. Strict average: Boys, 185.2 ; girls, 114; total, 249.7. Working average; Boys, 139.4; girls, 119 1; total, 258.2. Highest attendance : Boys, 151 : girls, 127; total, 27#. He also stated that slate pencils were wanted, and that the Cadets were complimented by Sir G. Whitmore, who stated that there was every probability that they would be armed very shortly. From the Board of Education, euclosing £l4 18s 8d for the incidental fond. MISCELLANEOUS. Accounts to the amount of 9s were passed for payment. On the motion of Mr Cooper, seconded by Mr Miles, it was decided that the grounds be shingled immediately after the school breaks up. Mr Davis was appointed Visiter ior tbi ensuing montb. On the motion of Mr Cooper, seconded by Mr Davis, it was resolved to close the school from the 14th of December to the 17tb January. On the motion of Mr Miles, seconded by Mr Cooper, it was decided to hold a concert on the evening of the 14tb of December, and to leave the carrying out of it in the bands of the Secretary and Head Master. It was resolved to write to the Board of Education applying for new ventilators, at an estimated cost of 3(D, and also to ask the Board to distemper the inside walls and ceilings of the school. It was. decided to ask Mesdames Brown, Lee, and Miles to judge the sewing at the annual examination of children. The meeting then adjourned.
