SOUTH ORARI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the j South Orarf School Committee was held j on Monday evening in tbe Schoolroom, j Present—Mmsw R. A. Barker (Chair- j man), MeLeod, Ellia, May and Coles. \ MINUTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. . CORRBWMJDENOE.
Correspondence from the Education | Board was read (1) notifying that £4 15s , 4d for incidentals for the current quarter had been paid in to the credit of tbe Committee; and (2) inquiring as to the customary holidays given.—Tbe Chairman stated that he had already replied to the latter communication. HEAD MASTER'S BEPORT. The Master's report, which was then read, stated that while the attendance on tbe whole was improving, yet there were a few children whose attendance was unsatisfactory. The strict average attendance for tbe last three weeks was stated to have been—Boys, 15; girls, 16.1 j total, 51.1. For last week—Boys, 17.1; girls, 21; total, 38.1. Highest attendance—Boys, 19; girls, 35; total, 42 No. on roll—Boys, 23 ; girls, 2f ; total, 49. Resolved—" That notices be forthwith sent to the parents of the children at-
tending most irregularly." ■visitor. . Mr Ellis was appointed visitor for th» -> month. PRIZE FCTXD. A conversation then took place re school prizes, and it was reiolvad that the Secretary examine and report at nazt meeting as to the amount available for this purpose. AOOOVNTS. Accounts for cleaning the school were passed for payment, aftar which the meeting adjourned to the third Monday in December. A number of Chinese by the Tarawera at Auckland had to pay poll tax.
