VOLUNTEER REVIEW. Colonel the Hon. Sir George Whitmore held a review of (he Volunteers yesterday in Timaru, At 11.30 a.m. the Te« muka Rifles and the High School Cadets mustered in the Volunteer Hall, Temuka, and shortly _■ afterwards marched to the railway station, whence they proceeded by express train to Timaru. There were in attendance 88 of the Rifles, under Captuin Hayhurst and Lieuteaantß Find* lay and White, and 34 of the Cadets, under Captain Bryars and Lieutenant Cross. The Geraldine Rifles to the number of 42, under Lieutenants' Ward and Pearpoiot, joined the express at Orari, and also proceeded to Timaru. On arrival at Timaru the three companies marched, under command of Captain Hayhurst to the Drillshed, where they were dismissed. At 1.30 all the companies paraded. There were present besides the locil corps: The Timaru Rifles, Timaru Artillery, the Timaru Naval Brigade, the Timaru High School Cadets, the Canterbury Yeomanry Caralry, and Waimats Rifles, under their respective officers. They were than formed into a battalion and marched to the reserve at Maori Hill, where they wheeled into line, and received the commanding officer with a general salute. Colonel Sir George Whitmore, attended by Lieutenant-Col. then inspected the various corps. The battalion then formed into columo, ani marched past, after which they were put through some battalian movements, Major Douglas, of Ashburton, acting as Senior Major, and Captain Hayhurst as Junior Major. Major Douglas next put the men through the manual exercise, and Captain Ht»yhurst put them through the bayonet exercise, after which the men were addressed by the Commanding Officer. He complimented them on their improvement is drill.
