AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Adsm report for the fortnight ending Saturday as follows: , Horses—We offered for sale. at- the Timaru Horse Bazaar, after the, parade, which took place to-day, ,s.entires on , account of Mr M. Maze, Mr. B. Cochrane, and Mr E. Cookeon, but in no. instance did the bidding come op to .owners’expectations, and consequently each lot waa passed in unsold. Immediately afterwards our usual sale commenced, and although the entry for the day waa not large, a considerable number of sales were effected. We quote medium to good draughts, £l3 10s to £25; a pair of 3yea»olds realised £4B; aged ,and inferior, £6 to £lO 10«. Cattle—At Washdyke, on Thuradiy, there was a medium entry of fat cattle and store steers, most of which changed hands at satisfactory prices. We quota best quality beef at 255, and have inquiries for well-forward store steers. At Makikihi, on the 13th inst., we sold 14 2 and 3-year-old steers, at from £S; 15s to £4 ss.

Sheep—At Wtshdyke, on Thursday, the demand for fat sheep was, an improvement on late sales, and all lots forward were disposed of. Young store sheep were also in good demand, and all the lots yarded changed hands at an advance on late rates. We sold on account of Messrs Page, Mitchell, Devan and others, 60 fat wethers at 13s to 13s 6d ; ,50 fat wethers at 14s; 200 hoggets at 8s 4d, and privately 120 fat ewes, 150 crossbred hoggets, and 100 fat ewes. Skins—At our sale on the 15th inst., we had a fair catalogue of butchers’ and country skins, and prices realised showed a slight advance on late rates. . Land—We sold privately during the week 63 acres land at Fairlie Creek, and also 22 haif-ucre allotments in the sama township, all at satisfactory prices. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

Fine greasy crossbreds are no# ruling at 2d to 2£d higher than at the close et the July sales.. Coarse crossbreds are ]£d to 2d higher. Since ths opening of: the present series the withdrawals from sales have amounted to 12,000 bales. Sept, 24, The fifih series of wcol sales commence on November 23rd. At tr-day’s wool sales 12,000 bal«f\ were offered. The market is weaker, Australian beef tallow isqnoted a| 28s; mutton, 25s 6d. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,670,000 quarters, being an increase of 20,000 quarters for the week.
