TOWN BOARD ELECTIONS.

GERALDINE. The biennial election of tbe Geraldine Town Board took place yesterday. The affair passed off quietly, there being rery little interest taken in the matter. All the old members were nominated with the exception of Mr T. Farrell, who declined to stand, owing to a pressure of business engagements. In addition to the six old members nominated there were also five others, thus bringing the number of candidates up to eleven. , The following is the result of the polling.— R. 11. Pearpoint ... 92 Robt. Taylor ... 83 W. S. Maslin , ... T2 Wm. Berry... ... ... 67 J. Mundell ... 65 N. Dunlop ... ... ... 65 J. A. Quin ... ... ... 58 J, Huffoy ... ... ... 65 W. Colfman 63 R. S. Cook 40Qeo. Ward 23 The first seven were elected. Much interest was evinced at the declaration of tbe poll, and the result was received with cheering. Several of those who were elected briefly thanked the elector*. TBMUKA. Tbe poll for the election of a Board of Commissioners for the Temilk* Town District took place yesterday, the polling place being the Courthouse. The whole' of the members of tbe old Board, with the exception of Mr M. Quinn, stood for reelection, and were successful, though they were opposed by several cit'zeue of high standing. Tbe seat vacated by Mr Qu inn was secured by Mr F. Coira, and with thin exception the pmrto*nel of the new Board is the same as the last. THE TEMUKA ELECTION, After the f lection Mr Peter Coira was waited upon by a deputation to congratulate him upou his success. Mr Coira received the deputation in good spirits, and one of them got so jubilant that he broke out into poetry as follows : - The battle is over, the contest is done, With tbe close of tbe poll comes the end of the fun— Of course, we all knew what the issue would be, McS. bad no chance, nor had even J. B. ; Elijah, of course, was quite sure of a seat, You never yet heard of K. F. being beat, If Peter had lost, many throats would go dry (Some fancied, indeed, he’d give Jim the go-by), And George, too, was certain of winniig the race (No better than he canid be found for the place), And if Davy got licked be can take it with grace. So let us unit?, and drink with one accord, Success to the nswiy-eleoted Town Board, Bill’s Math's Count*.
