AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD ELECTIONS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Will yon kindly permit me a small space in your valuable paper to make a tew remarks with regard to the coming election, as there seems to be a good deal of interest taken in it, I see that there are twelve men nominated, of whom there are to be five elected as a Board of Commissioners to carry on die business of the township of Arowbenua. There seems to be a certain clique iu Temuka very anxious about the affair, and as none outside ot the boundary are eligible to stand for election, this ring were in great earnest to have their men nominated. It was quite a farce to see them escorting their dummies to Mr Lee’s to make sure they should bo nominated without doubt, Now men of Arowbenua, tor once in your lives look after your own interests, or it will ha like the landlordism in Ireland—they will put their stewards (or dummies) to do the dirty work, while they will laugh at us poor deluded working men. Let us show that there are as good men wearing moleskins as those big gutis, that wear broadcloth. Worse than all, they have nominated five that never signed their names to the petition, but were greatly opposed to it being formed a Town District, and laughed at the idea, . Now, these are the men put forward to handle the reins,' •nd by the time their two years have expired they will have spent our money and driven us to poverty, and then thay will say, We will make room for some one else. Once more let me impress upon you to use your best discretion, and vote for the men that wilt lock after your interests.— I am, etc., Home Rule. Arowbenua, August 20th, 1886. —,——* ——
