AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. OBRALfitHB. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the week ending Saturday, 7th Aug., 1886 On Wednesday, at the Geraldine monthly stock sale the entry was a medium one, and the prices realised during the sale showed a considerable improvement On values lately ruling. Especially in the sheep portion of the sale was this noticeable. The totals yarded for the day were—ll 43 sheep, 60 bead of cattle, and 21 pigs. Prices realised were : For fat crossbred ewes and wethers, 8s 3d to 8s lOd; crossbred hoggets sold readily at 3» 3d to 3s 4d,. and 3? ]od. All sheep offered during the day found buyers at prices satisfactory to vendors—one small lot of merino ewes excepted. Cattle; Forward store steers sold at £6 17s 6d; cows, fit for the butcher, £5 17s 6d ; cows, springing and in full profit, £3 10s to £5; 2-year-old steers, in low condition, £2 7s; yearlings, £1 10s. Pigs; Porkers sold at 19s ; stores, 6s. At Winchester Pair on Thursday the entry of stock was fully up to former sales. At auction very few lots changed owners. Privately wo sold 6 fat steers at £7 7» 6d each, to local butchers. TIMAItU. ■ Messrs Oracle, Maclean and Adam report for th* week ending Saturday ■» follows■ Horses Our entry at the Timaru Horae BMsaar to-day was considerably smaller than usual, owing, no doubt, to the morning being very wet. Out of 23 head yarded we sold a fair proportion, and had numerous enquiries for young horses, suitable for farm work. Any of this class coming to hand during the next few weeks will meet a ready sale. We quote medium to good draughts at from £lslos to £24, inferior and aged, £6 to £lO, hacks (very few good sorts offering), prices to*day up to £l2. We sold privately the draught entire Lord Bangor at satisfactory price. Cattle -At Washdyke on the 29th ult. there was an average entry of fat cattle, but owners' expectations were in excess of buyers’ values, and consequently few transactions resulted. ,We said privately 11 head steers and heifers at equal to 22s 6d per lOOlbs. Score cattle are not in much demand, and there is but little prospect of improvement until feed is more plentiful, On the above date, and also at Pleasant Point monthly sale on the 2nd instant, we sold 20 head at from 30a to 55a per head, and privately we placed 40 head steers and heifers. Sheep—At Washdyke on the 29th ult. only a small entry of fat sheep came forward, and but few of these were above medium quality, At Pleasant Point sale the entry was a heavy one, both in fat and stores, some lots of the former being remarkably good, We sold 61 ewes at 8s lid, 33 do at 6s 6d, 30 do at Bs, 45 do at 7s, 83 hoggets at 4a 6d, 179 merino wethers at 2s, 300 do ewes at la 6d. Pigs—At Pleasant Point we aold 31 stores at ss.

Skin* —At oqr fortnightly sale on Wednesday w« catalogued 1350 skins, and are pleased to notice that the demand was much better than for some tune back. Butchers’ crossbred* realised 4* to 4s 3d, station and fanners’ lots, best quality, 2s sd, 2s lid, 3s, 3s 3d, 3a 9d ; second, .-Is dd to 2s 6d.

Country Sale—On Friday we held a clearing sale for Mr VVra. McShecby Gentlemen at hie farm, Waitobi. There was a large attendance of farmers and dealers. Competition was brisk and prices obtained highly satisfactory. Land—We sold privately during the week 62 acres adjoining Fairlie Creek township at £7 10s per acre ; also, 200 acres, part of Ashwick estate (price withheld), and leased for a term of years .the following j—3o4 acres, Makikihi, to Mr James Cain ; 120 acres, Totara Valley, to Mr James Home; 120 acres, Waitobi, to Mr H. Nicholson. I
