DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.
At, the Burnside Yards on Wednesday ihe following business was transacted ;
Fat Cattle—A short supply was yarded to-day, viz., 145 head, chiefly medium. The demand was brisk, and prices showed an improvement on last week’s values. Prime bullocks, from £9 to £lO 12s 6d ; medium, £7 to £8 15s; inferior, £3 17s dd to £6 15s.—Messrs Wright, Stephenon and Go, sold for Mr R. A. Barker tOrari), 8 Devon steers at from £8 10s to £6 15s. Donald Reid and Co. soi l from Mr James Guild, Trevenna Estate (Temnka), 12 very heavy bullocks at £lO 12s 6d. Fat Calves—Fifteen yarded, and sold at 10s lo 25s each. Fat Sheep—The supply comprised 140 of good quality merinos and 1667 crossbreds, chiefly ewes, and excepting several lots being prime, the balance were medium weights and quality. Best crossbreds brought from 9* 31 to 12s 3d ; light and medium, 6s to 9s ; merinos, ssto 6a 6d.—Mr L. Maclean sold for Mr Andrew Gran' (Temuka), 60 halfbred wethers at 10s 9d. Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr Walter Hartnell (Rakain), 248 prime maiden balfhred ewes (light) at from 11s to 12* ; for Mr Andrew Grant (Temuka), 120 crossbred ewes at. from 10* 61 to 11s 91 ; for Mr R. A. Barker (Oran), 58 crossbred owes at from 10-91 tolls; for Mr P. H. McShane, (Winchester), 68 crossbreds at from 9s 9d to lls 6d. Pigs 287 were pnmvd, Mm greater portn.n of which w- ••• .» f f t and p rk-'3 Porkers brougb r f.oio 14s to 28 s; haconevs, 30s to 48- ; and several extra heavy, 56* ; slips ami stores, 8s to 13s.— Mr L. Mad-an sold for Mr James M‘Donald (Washdyke), 63 at from 24s to 355; and for Mr F. M. Rickman (Waimate), 50 from 12a to 40s. Horses Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co, report there is but little inquiry for medium draught and light harness horses, and in order to effect sales very low prices have to be accepted. We quote firstclass draughts at from £24 to £2B; medium, £l2 to £lB ; inferior and aged, £8 to £10; first-class hacks and light harness horses, £l6 to £2O ; medium, £9 to £l4 ; very light and inferior, £3 to £7. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. Hides—lnferior and bulls’ 2d light, 3d to 3£d ; medium, 3|d to 3|d ; heavy, weighing 601 b and over, dry, and free from cuts, 4d per lb. Tallow—A moderate amount of business is passing at about late quotations, viz. : for inferior, 13s to 15j ; medium, 16s to 18s; prime mutton, 19s to 20*; rough fat—inferior, 6s to 7s ; medium to good, 8s to 10s ; prime mutton, 10s 6d to 12s perewt. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, July 23. New Zealand wheat, 4s Id per bushel; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, per 56!bs, 3s 4d, Sugar is unchanged. Adelaide, July 24. Wheat is quoted at 4s lOi and 5s ; flour, town brands, £ll ; country do, £lO 10,*. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, July 23. New Zealand mutton,of prime quality, 4|d to 5d per lb. Australian leather of best quality, 10|d per lb. The wool market continues firm, Arrivals to date for next auctions amount to 240,000 bales.
