CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 28rd July Wheat—The market his seen a fair amount of business during the week, and prices have closed firm with a good enquiry. Several interprovincial orders are on hand, and local millers are always prepared to augment their stocks. Tuscan ■ and pearl are most in request: the former -- is. rather scarce at 4s Id to 4s 3d ; pearl is taken up at 4s Id to 4s 21 ; Hunter’s is held more plentifully, and has no enquiry over 4s ; second quality is Id to 3d lower ; chick wheat is only offering in small lots at 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats are hardly bo firm. Largo quan- - titles are offered, with little business doing, outside requirements for the time * being very limited. Prime milling are in limited supply at 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; short feed are quiet at 2s 4d ; long sorts are dull at [2s 3d; inferior samples 2s. Barley is dull with little or no trade, and prices are without change. Beans and Peas—For feed these have a fair trade enquiry, sad prices range from Ss Id to 3s 4d ; Prussian blues fit for seed are hard to obtain at 4s 3d to 4s 6d. Ryegrass bis plenty of buyers, Macfaiie-drsssed is quoted at 5s to 5s 6d ; farmers’ clean parcels are quitted at 4s to ia 6d, Cocksfoot has an upward tendency. Holders of clean heavy seed are asking 4fcd, but business at this price is very limited , light and inferior seed is being placed in small quantities at 3d to 3Jd. Potatoes have barely maintained their value, more sellers being in the market, but we anticipate that the depression is only temporary, and we still quote at 52s 6d to 55s for early delivery at country stations.
