CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 30th April : Owing to the holidays, business in and produce has been on a limited scale, and quotations are generally on a par with those given last week. The heavy rains just fallen are sure to delay potato digging, and should it continue so a great deal of damage is sure to follow, as the best crops are understood to be principally on the low lying lands. Quotations are as follows : Wheat—Tuscan, 3s 5d to 3s Bid ; pearl and Hunters, 3s 4d to 8s 4sd ; shrivelled, 3s 2d ; fowl corn, 2s lid to 3s Id. Oats—Milling, 2s Id ; short feed, Is Jld to 2s; Tartarian and Danish, 1> 10'. Barley—E3ftra choice milling, 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; medium, 3s ; feeding kinds, 2s to 2s 3d. Beans—2s lOd to 2s lid. Peas—Prussian blues, 3s 43 ; feed, 3s. Ryegrass MachimNdressed, Bs to 5s 0d ; farmers parcels, 3s 6d to 4s ; cocksfoot, bright heavy seed, 3£d ; medium quality, 3d. Potatoes—47s to 50s, sacks extra. Dairy Produce — Butter, prime (in tubs), lid ; pastry, 4d to 63. Cheese, loaf shape, 8d ; medium sizes, s|d ; large, 4d. The above are prices paid lo farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton. CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington lards on Wednesday moderate entries of stock yarded for the day’s market. Attendance of buyers hardly an average one. Fat cattle—A small number only offered. Demand not very brisk, bqt the short supply had the effect of hardening values a little. Steers sold from £5 12s 6d to £7 15s; heifers, £4 5s to £6 12a 6d, being from 17s 6d to 19s per lOtrlbs. Store cattle —Only a small number offering. A line c.f cows was a feature of the sale, and fetched £3 5s per head. A few t!mu>year-old steers sold at £4 12s 6d ; do heifers at £3 15a. In the dairy stock market the demand for good quality cows, near to calving, was only fairly good, and ordinary sorts were dull of sale. Pigs—A good entry, some good lines of baconers being on offer ; demand fairly good, and late values were upheld ; bacoaers sold up to 52s per bead ; porkers, 18s to 26s ; stores, 5s to lie. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday r Wheat. The supply is not conrng in as in former years, and the. most of what is coming forward »s not in condition. What is in demand is prime velvet and Tuscan, and which is worth 3s 9d ; medium quality, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; red straw, 3s 3d to 3s 7d ; fowl feed, 2s lid to 3s 3d. Oats. Considerable quantities are now coming forward and prices, if any* anything, are a shade easier. Sydney market is beginning to get bare, and there are several large orders in hand for this market. The prices there have also improved. Prices for bright milling mil bright heavy feed may he quo ed »i 2s, while for good feed Is lOd to Is lid is obtainable ; ordinary feed, Is 8d t ■ Is 9d ; damp and discolored, Is 6 iolsßd. h-u’ y.—Sales in this cereal are few, and pries are much about the same as l as i v>k viz.: Malting, bright in co’io ~d mellow, up to 3s ordinary, 2> 10 i" 3s 3d ; milling, 2s 6d ; and for I-d, Is 10d to 2s 2d, p,, itoes. —Ruling rales are for prime Derwenls up to £3. Grass Seed.—Market quiet at the nominal quotations of last week—.viz.: 4s to 4s 6d for rye grass, and 41 for cocksfoot. Butter.—Fresh, 9J ; salt 9d to lOd. Sales slow. Cheese.—s|d to 6d per lb for best quality. Eggs.—Supplies have been coming to hand more freely, and prices Lave dropped to Is 9d. Sheepskins.—At the sale on Tuesday inferior and medium crossbred skins brought from 9d to 2a Id ; best do, up to 3s 2d ; medium merino, lOd to 2s 9d; best, up to3s Id; pelts, Id to 8d; green crossbreds, Is 9d to 2s 4d ; do merino, Is Id to Is 7d ; lambskins, Is 8d to 2s 3d. Hides. All consignments find buyers at from 4£d to 4-|d for heavy weights free from offal, 3£1 to 4d for medium, 3d to 3£d tor light, and 2d to for cut bulls and slippy.
