TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

I The monthly meeting of the Temuka Bchool Committee was held last night. Present —Messrs Hay hurst ( Chairman ) Biyth, Brown, Lee, Milea and Gray, Correspondence was read : From the head master reporting that average attendance was : boys, 177.6 ; girls, 147.<>; total, 325.2. He also applied for some gymnasium apparatus, and complained of leakage in the roof. Mr Gray stated that he had seen the leakage, and that it would be desirable to get a ladder and clean out the gutter. It was decided to apply to the Board for two ladders. Mr Gray also said a good deal of the spouting had been torn away, a bar was broken in the front gate, one of the blackboards bad the castors taken off, and if a carpenter were employed he could do all at once. It was decided to apply to tbs Board to have these repairs attended to. It was estimated the cost would be £2. From Mr A. Hayes, declining to be nominated for a seat on the Board of Education. From the Board of Education intimating that Mr W. B. Howell had . been nominated for the vacant seat on the Board. It was decided to rote for Mr Howell. The Secretary reported that the gross receipts of the concert amounted to £ls 11s 6d, and the expenses to £8 12s 6d, leaving a balance ct £ll 12s. With regard to an application made by the teacher for a pair of parellel bars, for the gymnasium, it was decided to make an application to the Board to supply them. Accounts to the amount of £l2 10s 10d were passed for payment. Mr Brown said the Committee were indebted very much to Mr Rout for the way in which he bid carried out the concert, and he moved a hearty vote of ; thanks to him. The motion was seconded by Mr Gray, who endorsed the remarks made by Mr Brown, and it was carried unanimously.
