INQUEST.

An inquest was held on Monday at the residence of Mr J. Mundell, before H. C. S. Baddeley, Esq, Coroner, touching (he death of Robert Aicken, who died on Friday lest. The following jury were sworn, viz : Messrs W. H. Lodge (foreman), Robert Morrison, John Knox, H. N. Hiskens, R. Taylor, and Robert Wood, The jury having viewed the body, the following evidence was taken ; John Mundell, deposed ; 1 know the deceased. He died on Friday morning at about 9 o’clock at my house. His name was Robert Aicken. He was about 46 years of age. He was my brother-in-law, and was a farmer iu Southland. Be had been ailing about two and a-half years. He came to my place for a change. He was a very steady man. Dr Fish, deposed: I am a medical pract : tioner, residing at Geraldine, Oo Friday morning Mr J, Mundell came to my house about half-past eight and asked me to call and see his brother-in-law when I started'cn my ordinaiy round. About half an hour afterwards I received a message from Mrs Mundell asking me to come immediately, I did so and found d‘ceased dead when I arrived. I made « post mortem examination on Saturday. I found very extensive dim-w of the lungs which had evident y r -vs*e, 1 for some, lime. Toe heart «-«s i;*o diseased. I have no doubt that c-ndiiion was the caul* ofdeati.
