MICHAEL NOSTRADAMUS’S PROPHECY EXPLAINED.

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —It does not appear to me tbat anyone who has studied Michael Nostradamus’s prophecy has ever noticed that it is merely a catch, for if Good Friday fart%, on April 28th and Easter Sunday on April 25th, Good Friday must fall after Easter Sunday, which is impossible. From tins 1 presume that Michael Nostradamus must have meant to imply that there was no termination (except death) to this 'mundane existence. Also, I*l wonder how many of your readers will discover that your clever puzzle in to-day’s paper, by which anyone may arrive at the year the world will come to an end in, is a modification of “ Think of a number,” 3770 plus 2 equals 1886 multiplied by 2. When you are told to add 2 after the age it comes to exactly the same thing as if you had done so at first, as the division does not take place until after the 2 is added. Then you add twice the age to the 3772, and by afterwards dividing by 2 the sura total equals 1886 plus the age, then by subtracting the age of course it equals, 1886. By this means you take away exactly what you add to 3770 except 1, as the two you add when divided equals I.—l am etc.,

A Schoolgirl. Geraldine, Feb. 13th, 1886.

[Good Friday falling on the 28th April is a misprint. It should have been on the 23rd, as it is going to be this year. Our correspondent is evidently making good use of her time at school. She deserves great credit for the way she has unravelled the puzzle.— The Editor.]
