The Auckland City Council has decided to cut down Hobson street. The work will cost £99,000 (?), exclusive of £IO,OOO compensation. Properly owners have promised to contribute £3OOO to the cost. A Miss Kelly was seriously injured at Palmerston North on Thursday by being thrown from a horse, which took fright at a passing vehicle. The eight-year-old son of Herbert Cook, rail way" platelayer, Masterton, was killed on Thursday night by a log rolling on him.

Walker (Invercargill), £4369. The Opawa, ship, 87 days from London, has arrived at Wellington. The brigantine Stella, 125 days from New York, is at the Heads.
