TEMUKA TOWN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held last evening. Present— Messrs Gray (Chairman), E. Brown, Mason, and Blyth. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. BOARD OF HEALTH. The report of the Joint Committee with regard to the appointment of a Board of Health was read, and on the motion of Mr Browa, seconded by Mr Blyth it was adopted. Correspondence was read from the Crown Lands Office as follows;—“Referring to your letter of the 19th of Jan., in which yon ask that the question of letting the reserves be held over until after next session, I am directed by tire Minister for Crown L«nds to inform you that nothing will be done with the reserves until Arowbenua is proclaimed a Borough or a Town District.” overseer's report. The Overseer reported that he only had one man employed for 15| days during tire last month, aud one man with a horse and dray for days. Still several cross streets required cleaning of thistles and gorse, and a few stones near the Road Board office required breaking. The rates were coming in slowly, and it would be advisable to advertise that they would be sued for, as the balance-sheet would be required to be made out on the 3Dt of March. As owners of dogs were not taking ont collars, he suggested naming a day for having them registered. On the motion of Mr Blyth, seconded by Mr Brown, it was resolved to advertise—- “ That all rates not paid, and all dogs not registered, by the end of February be sued for.” ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £l4 3s were passed for payment. FINANCE. It was shown that the balance in the bank amounted to £lO5 16s. INSPECTOR OF NUISANCES' REPORT. The Inspector of Nuisances reported that the sanitary condition of the town was fairly good. A few complaints of a trivial nature had been attended to. The meeting then adjourned.
