The sea serpent must have grown immensely since his last appearance, to judge from the following report; and if he continues to increase at the same rate, future generations of sailors will have, a fresh danger added to the perils of the deep. He kept on worrying tbe bowsprit with his teeth until it came away, when he swallowed it, together with the foretopmast, staysail, jib, and flying jib. Just then a whale hove in sight, and he darted off in pursuit, giving a final flick with his tail, which stove in the starboard quarter galley !
