At the inquest en tbe child Heselhurst, held at tlrmatchuioh yesterday, whose death was supposed to have resulted from sunstroke, it was found that the whole of the body, except a portion ot the stomach, was covered with bruises. There were also one or two small wotmdi. The boy wm living with Mr and Mrs Green at Woodend, having been hired out from Burnham Industrial School. The inquest was adjourned. Judge Williams granted a special jury in Stewart v. Boydhouse (Evening Preie) libel case in Dunedin yesterday, The Hon. Mr Tole prooeeds from Dunedin to Invercargill to-day. The Gromwe 1 Brewery (Dunedin) was burned down yesterday morning. A Maori hone thief named TauaPeipa was arrested at Cape Egruont on Sunday last after a desperate struggle. The arresting constable was assisted by Mr Brookes, post, master, and Mr Bobson, a settler in the locality. The native drew a sheath knife, but could not use it, He was released from gaol last August, and stole the horse, together with a saddle, immediately afterwords. He has boen sent to Wacganui. Te Kooti and about two hundred followers marched three abreast into Petane pah (near Napier) yesterday morning. The peacession was headed by a standard-bearer with a white flag having the Union Jaok in the corner and the words Te Kooti in black letters across the white body of the banner, In the prooession, seated in a buggy, was Te Kooti attended by three aides de camp in uniform and thirty women, fie was received at the river by the Petane natives stark naked, and the usual barbaric demonstrations for Buoh oooasions were observed. No arms were observed among Te Koot'a people. The Petane natives expeot the leading Hawkes Bay settlers to pay respects to Te Kooti, on the ground that he is n greater general than Sir G. Wbilmore, having defeated him several times. All the natives ' speak of " General" To Kooti.
