The new Church at Wellington to replace St. John’s Presbyterian Church (destroyed by firo some time ago) was opened on Sunday hy the Revs. Treadwell, of Wanganui, and Elmslio, of Christchurch. Tne collections during the day amounted to £165. The brigantine Nora, from Chesterfield Island, arrived at Fort Chalmers yesterday. At Dunedin yesterday an infant of a Mrs Findlay was drowned through falling into a bucket of water during its mothei’s absence. The R.M.S. Ruapehu arrived st Port Chalmers 7 p.m. on Sunday. She brings 2840 tons of cargoand 250 passengers for all ports. The heaTh of all on board was excellent. There was one death, Wm. Gainster, about 28 years of age (engineer’s storekeeper) from bemt disease. He was found dead in his bed on Oct. 30. . The passage, which was a fine weather one, was also most agreeable ; and on Saturday evening Capt. Greenstone was the recipient of a complimentary address. The time occupied from Plymouth was 42 days 18 hours 5 mins ; actual steaming time 41 days 8 hours 10 mins. After transhipping 143 bags of mails and 81 passengers for Otago and Canterbury 7, the Ruapehu sailed for Wellington.
