THE ELECTIONS AT HOME.

London, Nov. 26. Messrs John Hennicker Heaton and Howard Vincent have been elected, while the Hon. E. Lyulph Stanley and Mr John Kynaston Cross have been defeated. For the City of London electorate (one member) the Right Hon. John G. Hubbard and Alderman Fowler each

polled the same number of votes, The Conservative candidates have been generally successful in London and suburban electorates. In the provinces, Liberals have been elected for York, Salisbury, Boston and Edinburgh, while the Conservatives have been successful at Bolton, Winchester, Norwich, Muncaster and Hull. Leeds, out of five seats, returns three Conservatives, while for Sheffield the following five members have been elected :—Messrs Coleridge, Mundella, Howard Vincent, Ashraead Bartlett, and Stuart Wortley. Mr Gladstone has been re-elected for Midlothian and the Right Hon. Lyon Playfair tor Edinburgh and St. Andrews’ Universities, Nov, 27. The latest returns show that Leicester and fet. Pancras have returned Liberals, and Lambeth and Stockport Conservatives. The Manchester divisions have returned five Mr Alexander McArthur, Sir James Fergusson, and Mr Howard Spensely have, been elected, and Mr Jacob Bright has been rejected, The state of parlies at present is—Conservatives, 111 ; Liberals, 107 ; Parneilites, 8. The metropolitan constituencies have returned 28 Conservatives and 17 Liberals. According to the latest returns the Conservatives have returned 111 members, and the Liberals 110. For Manchester five Conservatives and one Liberal have been returned, Sir James Ferguson securing one of the seats. For the Maryleboue district two Conservative members have been returned, including Lord Charles Beresford. The Conservative party also secured a victory at Westminster, Hampstead, Greenwich, Oxford and Wakefield, Mr Howard Spenseley, late of Victoria, has teen elected for Finsbury, the other two seats being gained by Conservatives. The Liberals have been successful at Halifax, Chester and Rochdale, Mr F. B, Potter was re-elected for the latter place. The o'd members have been reelected for Middlesboro’, West Bromwich and Falmouth, the Right Hon. G. A. F. Cavendish-Bentinck being defeated at the latter place. Sir Thomas Brassey has been re-elected for Hastings, and Mr A. Macarthur for Leicester. During the elections at Nottingham party feeling ran very high, and culminated in a riot, during which 40 persons were injured. Nov. 29. Up to the present the Liberals claim 129, Tories 127, and the Parneilites 18. Mr Gladstone has been returned by a majority of 4600, and the Marquis of Hartington by 180, Sir William McArthur, who sat in the last Parliament for Lambeth, has been defeated, oeing at the bottom of the poll. The Hon. Evelyn Ashley has also been defeated, Glasgow and Nottingham have returned all Liberals. Belfast returned lories. Justin McCarthy and T, Sexton have been defeated, O’Doberty has been returned unopposed for Meath, as was Mr Berry for Belfast. The election returns now give 155 Conservatives, and 167 Liberals. Mr Parnell and Mr Healey have been returned amongst the members for Cork. Conservatives have been returned for the following places: Scarborough, Weilnesbury, Isle of Wight, Denbeigli District and Tynemouth (one seat each), Buckinghamshire (three), and Cumberland (four).
