MARRYING THE WRONG WAY. A very amusing case of “ putting the cart before the horse ” actually occurred the other day in Jasmania. The Yen. the Archdeacon ol Kangaroo Point, in marrying a loving couple, committed I the terrible mistake of marrying them upside down, and .then had to put them downside op to get things straight again. To be plain, he married the bridegroom to the woman with the woman’s part of the service, and the bridge to the man with the man’s part of the service. The dreadful result of this was that the happy lover was made to swear he would for ever love, honor, and obey the wtelder of the broom and the mop, and but for the timely dis covery of the error, there is no saying what else he might not have sworn to do, inasmuch, to be'consistent, he must have read he for she in all the rest of the service. The Venerable Archdeacon, on finding out his mistake, set to work to marry them over again, but whether the second service was legal or not is a disputed question—some local legal authorities maintain it is not. The woman would, in all probability, have taken the law into her own hands, under any circumstances. What she will do now, backed by the law, goodness only knoffSi
