GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL.

The adjourned monthly meeting of the Geraldine County Coudwl was held, on Wednesday. Present—Messrs J."T;ilbo. (Chairman), W: Moody, W. Bilfour, an< R. H. Postlethwaite. Mr B. A. Barker sent an apology for his unadroidabh absence. A letter was read from Mr E. H. Brewer offering to- supply dog collars, and act as "Registrar of Dogs at Temuka. —Not entertained. = ; i' From Mr H. H. Pitman, in reference to the request of tHe ■ Council = that the Minister of Lands should be Requested to give effect to the wishes of the Woodbury residents, that 10 acres of Education Reserve No. 1191 might be net apart as a public cemetery. Mr Pitman informed the Council that the Minister had no power to accede to their request, but promised; to place the matter before the Commissioners. From Messrs White, Smithson, and Raymond, enclosing an opinion re voting at County. Council elections. , From the same, replying to an enquiry by the Council as to the possibility of the Council regulating the passage of traction engines' OV6r bridges, and enclosing a draft by-law to meet the ease.—Mr Postletbwaite thought if the bye-law was carried into effect if would prove a great hardship .on owriers of traction engines.—The Chairman did not think so, in his opinion it would make them more careful when crossing bridges. —The subject was deferred for a month. The Chairman then referred to the special orders're the Rangitatsa and feeadown Water Supply Districts. He thought the Council should; take stsps under the Public Works Act. They* would have to ascertain through whose property the races were likely to run, and then get the ; owner's consent.—The matter was left over until the annual meeting on the 25th, Accounts to the amount of £3B Is 3d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned. ;
