Nordenfeldt maintains premier position in the V, R.C. Derby, at 3 to 1; Ringmaster is at 8-to 1.

The following horses have been seraiched for the Melbourne Cup : Algerian, Astrrna, Cairo, Commotion, First Demon, Happy Thought, Vergv, (Jalina, Clarendon (Mr 0. KroshkaV), Dagobert and Frying-pan. i Winchester has been backed for £26,000 at 100 to 4 to 100 to 6, and Welcome Jack has been backed for £20,000 at 100 to 3to 100 to 5. Prince Imperial is being backed for all the money in the market at 100 to 4to 100 to 8. Blink Bonny has been back-d for £2O 000, and Lord Wilton for £6OOO at 100 to 5, Lo-d Exeter has greatly receded in the betting and ia now quoted at 100 to 5 (off).
