HAWKESBURY RACES. Melbourne, Sept. 10. , There was a good attendance at the Hawkesbury coarse to witness the first day’s races of the Hawkesbury Club Spring Meeting. The, racing was of a capital description, and the principal events resulted as follows : Hawkesbury Guineas. First Chester 1 Eagle Grange 2 Angora ... 3 Seven horses started for this race, Nnrdenfeldt being left at the po*t, Firat Chester won easily by two lengths. Time, Imin. 45secs. The County Plate. Prodigal ... ... 1 , Coolabab j Wanda ... ... 2 For this event eleven horses started, which resulted in a dead beat between Prodigal and Coolabab for the first place. This was a splendid race from start to finish. Time, lm ; n. 44£secs. The dead heat was not run off, Coolabab being withdrawn. Prodigal walked over
