TOWN BOARD RESERVE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —At yesterday's meeting of the Geraldine Town Board tenders were opened for the leasing of certain sections vested by the Government in the Board. Amongst those sections were two (Nos. 4 and 5) tendered for at a previous meeting, but not accepted—the alleged reason being lowness of rent offered. Said sections were yesterday leased to a member of the Board at 9s per acre under the highest tender ; reason assigned for not accepting the highest tender being no deposit enclosed. Now, the public knew nothing whatever about a deposit being required, as the sections already leased from the Board are held by men from whom in no instance was a deposit required. Again, section 13 was let yesterday though no deposit was supposed to be enclosed. In the language of the ancients, " Why this thusness 1" VOX ET PBjETEREA Nihil. Geraldine, Sept. 2nd.
