Melbourne, Aug. 28.

The police, assisted by the prisoner Robinson, have been searching along the Brighton Beach for the residue (£250) of stolen money from the Ilotham Bank. So far the search has proved unsuccessful, as Robinson was unable to identify the precise spot where the money nan concealed.

The prospects of the forthcoming wheat crop in Victoria are considered favorable, but those of South Australia are gloomy, owing to the shortness of the rainfall in the northern districts.

It is announced that the colonies of Victoria and Queensland hare agreed that the Federal Act shall come into force on the Ist December next. Mr Service laid before the colonies a proposal for a meeting of the Federal Council at Hnbart in January next, and he submitted for their consideration a programme of subjects to be considered there.

The police yesterday succeeded in unearthing £240 more of the stolen money which was buried by Rtdiinson at Brighton Beach.
