GERALDINE FLAT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
An adjourned monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Tuesday, the sth inst., in the schoolroom. Members present—Messrs D. Shaw (Chairman), McShane, Wilkinson, Rose, and McQuillan. minutes of the previous mpeting were' read and confirmed, The Master's report was read and unanimously approved of. It was proposed by Mr McShane, lecondei by Mr Rose, and carried—- " That » bearty vote of thanks be accorded to Mr Penney for the very eatisfactory manner in which he prepared the pupils for the scholarship examination, considering the interruptions in the time he has had charge, and that be should be congratulated on their luccess," It was Btated that one of the scholar? B hip winners, Alex. Bell, goes to the Titnaru High School to continue his secondary education. There were four applications for the post of Sewing Mistress: Misses M. A. Kelman and E. It. Hawke, and Mesdames Jones and McQuillan. It was proposed by Messrs Rose and Wilkinson that Mrs. Jones be appointed Sewing Mistress. Au amendment was proposed by Messrs Mcßhane and McQuillan that Miss Kelman be appointed. Mr Bose then withdrew hie motion, nod it
was unanimously resolved—" That the Committee recommend Miss Kelman to the Board of Education for the position of Smviug Mistress to the Geraldine Flat School, the hours to be thrt-e per week, and the Master to fix the limp." Mr McShane and the Chairman were authorised to have the pump drawn and repaired. The Chairman was instructed to write again to the Board of Education for two more desks and seats. This being all the business, the meeting terminated.
