Wellington, April 27. Information have been received that H.M.S. Espiegle arrived off Wakapuaka yesterday. She will, it is understood, protect that part of the coast. It is understood that Captains Newall, Gordon and Gudgeon, of the.A.O Force, are to receive promotion, and will rank majors. Captain Newall is to be stationed in Canterbury, Gordon in Otago, and Gudgeon remains in charge of the Permanent Artillery at Wellington. Christchurch, April 27. The Volunteers went to Lyttelton today to hold a sham fight on the Port Hills. Dunedin, April 27. The Volunteer parade was a great success. Seven companies paraded, several of whom were almost full strength. The total parade was 386, and the force was taken to the Ocean Beach.
