AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses—Considering the times and the depressed state ot the market both here and in Sydney, the sale to-day may be considered fairly successful, and although there is nothing special in prices to report, a good portion found buyers, nearly RO horses having changed hands. The highest price realised was a five-year-old draught gelding, on account of Mr Graham, purchased by Mr E. Evans at £36, Others sold at from £X7 to £27, A number of Mr Grny’s lot sold at from £lB to £l7. Of MrMacpherson’a entry 9 found purchasers at from £2 to £25 ; 3 of Mr Barker’s sold at from £8 10s to £l7 ; and various other lots at the above quotations. Sheen—On last Monday at Makikiln yards, ihey sold as follows : ewes at 7s sd, 500 do »t 7s, 500 halfrbred ewes at 9s lid, 200 crossbred lambs at 8s 6d, 200 old merino ewes at 2s lOd, and privately during the week they have placed on account of various owners 600 crossbred ewes and 700 halfbred ewos at satisfactory prices. Fat B'ieep—A number are offering at prices equal to about 2d per lb, which may he taken as present values. Cattle—At Makikiln on Monday a few pens of fat steers and light weights, brought from £6 to £6 15s.

PRODUCE MARKETS.

TIMAKU. The Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Assoc’ation report for the week ended 16th instant, as follows ; Wheat continues to come in freely, owners seeming disposed to incur storage

charges in preference to selling at present rates. During the week the cabled reports from Home show an increase in value in that market of from 2s to 4s a quarter, and prices here are consequently hardened, present quotations being : prime milling red chaff, 2s Bd, Tuscan and velvet 2s 9d to 2s lOd on trucks, Timaru. Merchants, however, show little inclination to speculate, and only buy for actual requirements. Oats have sold freely' during the week, chiefly for shipment coastwise, several parcels of long feed having been placed at Is 5d in (rucks. They quote, as present values, for long feed Is 4d to Is 6d, short milling Is Cd to Is 84, with moderate demand. Barley finds little enquiry at from 3s to 3s 6d for prime malting. Ryegrass Sales of machine-dressed are made at 3s 6d to 3s 9d on trucks.
