“Sir, —I have the honor to inform you that, owing to the numerous application* for space in the general branch of the Exhibition, it has been decided to recommend that the original plan of the Exhibition Buildings should be somewhat enlarged, which recommendation I have no hesitation in saying will be carried out.
“In order that no industry in the colony may be unrepresented here in August next, it has been decided to receive application for space to the 31st instant, and I would moat, earnestly request that you will lav this matter forcibly before the public, and mention that the object which Government have in view in the proposed Exhibition (the first of a series) is to test from time to lime the advance which is being made in the various industries‘.hat give employment to labor. The sole object for wh ch Wellington has been chosen as the place for the first exhibition is on account of the great importance of having the merits and claims of the various industries brought at an early d»te in a concentrated form under the notice of tbs Members.of Parliament, in order that the subject of repeating these Exhibitions in other places may command the full amount of attention which it deserves.—l have, etc., “ Charles Callis, Secretary,” It can thus be seen that the time for applying for space has been extended to
the Slat of this month; and we trust people will avail themselves of it.
