SECOND DAY. The attendance at the course yesterday was much smaller than on the previous day. The weather was fine, but a strong wind was blowing, Resultr : Tally-Ho Handicap, of 90 sovs. The second horse to receive 10 sovs. from the stakes. Master Agnes, Rocket, and Bordennan also ran. Eavenswood rushed to the front at the fall of the flag, and led past the stand the first time, with Eorderman second. The latter went down at the far side of the course, this being the only mishap during the race. His place was taken by Little John, who raced side by side to the distance post with Eavenswood, when Cotton let out Trapper. Little John soon cried a go, and a fine struggle between the other two followed, the whips being out. The local representative always had a little the best of it from the new stand, and he was landed a winner by a short half length. Time, 3min 12sec. Totalisator dividends (inside), £l7 8s fid ; (outside), £l4 11s. City Stakes Handicap, of 200 sovs., with a sweepstake of 5 sovs. each for acceptors. The favorite was the quickest on his legs, and leading the whole way won with a deal in hand by a length. There was an interesting race for second' place between Everton Lad and Spade Guinea. Jealousy hung fire at the post and was last all the way. Dunedin Jockey Club Handicap, of 400 sovs., with a sweepstake of 5 sovs, each for acceptors, tfie second to receive 80 sovs., and the third horse 40 sovs, from the stakes.
