THE NEW CHURCH AT PEEL FOREST.
Having seen the plans of this proposed building, wa are able to give a short de* scription of its dimensions, but as alternate tenders are being invited for a building in timber, concrete, or stone, are unable at present to give a description of the appearance it will present when finished. The ground plan of the building in wood shows a total length over all of 38 feet, with a breadth of 18 feet. The walls, above the foundations, will be 10 feet, and the elevation to the £able will be 24 ieet. The foundations will be, in any case, of concrete. The roof is to be of rimu pine, covered with corrugated iron. On the east end will bo a small cross, of wood, and on (he west end a small bell turret with a neat iron cross on top. The floor is to be laid complete, the sacrarium floor being raised 6 inches as a platform. The windows, four on the north side and three on the south (the entrance door taking the place of a window at the south-west corner), will be made as casemeats, with diamondshaped panes of Cathedral green glass. The entrance door will have a porch, 6ft z sft. Hie seats aie to be of either black pine or kauri, and similar in shape to those in the new Church at Geraldine. The rail enclosing the sacrarium will be of moulded black pine, with a portion binged in the centre. The Church will be ventilated by pipes built up ip the walls to a height of 7 feet, with shoqta at top pn4 bottom, and a sliding ventilator inside. At each end of the building, in the npper part of the walla, ventilators will be built in, with screen in front. The external part of the building is to be painted in approved colors, and the interior sized and varnished. The seats will simply be oiled. Mr Marley, of Ohiistchurcb, is the architect for the building, and the plans and specifications are to be seen at Mr N. Dunlop’s store, Geraldine, till Monday next.
