NEW OFFICES FOR THE GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
At the meeting of the Town Board on Wednesday evening, the tender of Messrs Dierck and White was accepted forbuildtbe new office for the Board, stone being the material of which it is to be con* structed. The plans and specifications were prepared by Mr D. McKenzie, and a short description of the edifice may prove of interest toqur readers. The ground plans showing a total length of 30 feet, by 19 feat in width. The front wa 1 ! is 14 feet in height, including parapet, and from floor to ceiling 12 feet. The foundations ara of concrete and the walls of blue stone, the front wall to have white stone quoins, sills and lintels, with string course and parapet of the same material. The gables are to stand 9 inches abofe the roof with neatly-worked white stone coping. At the entrance will be a neat porch 8 feet by 4 feet, also built of stone. The lean-to at the back of the building, 10 feet by 6 feet, will be built of iron with timber frame. This lean-to will act as a porch to the back door, and also be used for storing coals, wood, etc. The building will be divided into two rooms by a movable partition. The largest, 18 feet by 15 feet, will be used as a Board room, and the other 15 feet by 9 feet is for the use of the Clerk and Overseer. Each will have a fireplace, which are situated at each end of the building. The partition is made moveable, so as to make one room of the building when required for the purpose of holding meetings of ratepayers, etc. Each room will have a window, plain, 7 x 3| feet, double hung in boxed frames. The walla inside will be plastered throughout, and the ceiling match-lined with T. and G. white pine. The wood work will be finished in oil colors, end the mantelpieces stained and -varnished. At the roar of the office will be a cement store 20 fset by 10, built of timber, with iron roof. Tbe office is to be built on the section between the Road Board Office and the Literary Institute, and from the neat front view of tbe plan it should be a great improvement to the appearance of tbe township when finished. As before mentioned, Mr D. McKenzie is the architect, and Messrs Dierck and White the contractors. The work will be commenced at once.
