BLUE RIBBON ARMY.
The usual monthly meeting of the Blue Ribbon Army was held last night in the Volunteer Hall, Temuka, and was very largely attended. The Rev. Mr Roth well took the chair, and the meeting was opened in the usual manner by prayer, the reading of a portion of the scripture, and the singing of hymns. The Rev. Mr Allsvvorth then addressed the meeting, and told many anecdotes bearing on the question of temperance, concluding by exhorting all present to join in the movement. Very telling and earnest speeches wore also delivered by the Revs. Hamilton and Rothwell, both of whom pointed out the evils of intemperance, and urged upon their hearers the necessity of abstaining from the use of alcoholic liquors lest they should one day fall into intemperate habits. Several recitations were also contributed by members of the Army, and a very successful meeting was brought to a close in the usual manner.
