GERALDINE BEAGLE CLUB.

The annual general meeting of this Club took place on the 6th instant at the Kennels. Mr Rolleston, M.H.R., presided. The Secretary read the minutes of the last annual meeting, which were confirmed. After sundry correspondence was read, the report and balance-sheet for the past year wore presented as follows : “The total receipts for the year were £57 Is, to which is to be added £22 18s lOd, balance from last year, making altogether £79 .19s lOd, The expenditure shows £64 15s 2d, leaving a balance at the Bank of £ls 4s 8d to the Club’s credit. There are, outstanding subscriptions amounting to £25. Last season’s hunting was very successful. It began later than usual, on account of the continued wot weather. The meeting has been called earlier this year for the reason that our Master, Mr A. L. Barker, intends leaving the colony for some months, and the meeting will have to decide what is to be done in reference to hunting for the next season. The Committee suggest that hunting should be abandoned for this season and to dispose of several couples of hounds, keeping sufficient to form a pack for the season of 1886. No doubt many members will feel disappointed at the Club not hunting this season, but there is no other alternative in our opinion. The Committee have, on behalf of the members, to express their high appreciation of the services rendered to the Club by our worthy Master, Mr Barker. It is chiefly through his zeal and interest that our past hunting seasons have passed off so satisfactorily. In the event of hunting being continued during the coming season, it will be necessary to elect new officers for the year in accordance with our rules. We have to tender our sincere thanks to the farmers and others who have kindly permitted the Club to hunt over their respective lands. Regret is expressed at the unavoidable absence of our President, Mr W. Postlethwaite, who is at present on a visit to England. We are greatly indebted to him for the warm interest he has hitherto taken in the welfare of the Club,” Proposed by Mr Cunningham, and seconded by Mr E. H. Postlethwaite—“ That bunting bs abandoned for this season, and several couples of hounds be disposed of, keeping sufficient to form a pack for the season of 1886.”—Carried. Proposed by Mr Gordon Wood, and seconded by Mr Cunningham —“ That the Committee be authorised to dispose of several couples of hounds and of the horses as they think fit.’” Carried.
